Our slings are based on four originals in a private collection in New England.Interestingly, all four slings are constructed from smooth side out leather and not the rough or flesh side out as has often been attributed to British military gear. We do however, offer the black waxed flesh rough side out variation also. Adjustment holes on the originals vary from three to eight. Our reproduction comes with five adjustment holes.

We have two types of buckles available for these slings. Our rectangular buckle, which is the style most often associated with Confederate useage, was copied from an original dug piece found near Fredericksburg, Va. Our "D" shaped buckle, which is the style most often associated with Federal useage was copied directly from one of the buckles in our friend from New England's personal collection. Special thanks go to our friend Bill who served as our techincal advisor on this project.

We offer these in a variety of colors, Black, Russett and Buff. And both of the correct buckle styles are available. Please specify when ordering.
